Cinema Guild Acquires DVD and VOD Rights for Terence Nance's Gotham Winner 'An Oversimplification of Her Beauty'

The Cinema Guild has picked up U.S. home video, digital and non-theatrical distribution rights for Terence Nance's recent Gotham Award-winner "An Oversimplification of Her Beauty." The filmmakers will release the film theatrically in 2013, followed by a DVD and VOD release via Cinema Guild.

Variety's 10 Directors to Watch Includes Sundance and Foreign Oscar Entry Helmers

Variety has announced its annual pre-Sundance 10 Directors to Watch list. The indie world is already familiar with jack-of-all-trades David Lowery, whose Casey Affleck-Rooney Mara starrer "Ain't Them Bodies Saints" will debut in competition at Sundance in January, while "Pit Stop," which he co-wrote, is in the NEXT section; Rebecca Thomas, whose Mormon drama "Elecktrick Children" was an official selection at Berlin 2012; and the director of Sundance 2013 entry "Kill Your Darlings," John Krokidas.

Netflix's Landmark Deal with Disney Revolutionizes Way We Think About TV Content

New Digital Features for 'Beasts of the Southern Wild' -- Flipbook and Essay on Single Dads in Films

Along with the new Blu-ray and DVD release of Benh Zeitlin's "Beasts of the Southern Wild," Twentieth Century Fox has created a couple of interactive features to accompany the film. The first is a "Hushpuppy Digital Flipbook," and the second is the mini-essay "Single Dads in Films," which focuses on the father-daughter/son relationship in contemporary cinema.
