The trailer showcases this uber-stylish thriller packed with one-liners (the script is by "Fringe" exec producer J.H. Wyman) and dazzling Arri Alexa cinematography from Paul Cameron, ASC ("Man on Fire").

Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" premieres in the U.S. on June 8, but after overseas debuts in France, Russia, and England critics have inked their responses and some spoiler-heavy ones at that. The handful of critics who published early reviews agree that the film's visuals are stunning and Ridley Scott is right at home in the "world creation" part of his fantasy films. The new featurette on the space ship Prometheus posted below is irrefutable evidence of stunning visuals. It's still up for debate whether the movie provides substance to the heady questions of morality and existence.

This morning in London, Twentieth Century Fox held the world’s first screening of 3-D footage from “Prometheus,” treating an early-morning crowd to three scenes and thirteen minutes followed by a Q&A session with director Ridley Scott (“Please stop calling me Sir Ridley”) and stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron.

Sixty-three Films Eligible for Foreign Language Oscar, Leading Contenders

Of the final sixty-three countries that have submitted their official Oscar entries in the Foreign Language Film category, many have been seen on the festival circuit. Screenings will soon be scheduled for various foreign language committees, which will eventually narrow the list to the final five to be announced on January 24. The first committees see groups of films and must see a certain percentage to vote; branch chief Mark Johnson chooses an uber-committee to add three films to an initial list of six and then vote on the final five nominations. Thus high-brow movies that may not play to the bigger group can be added. The prime contenders based on previous nominations or and/or critical response so far are:

Ridley Scott: From Alien Reboot Prometheus to Blade Runner Sequel

The highlight of Comic-Con, bar none, was Ridley Scott's Prometheus footage. While Fox and Scott are downplaying the sci-fi space thriller's relationship to the original Alien and the kick-ass James Cameron sequel Aliens, there's no question this movie is grown from the same DNA; Scott admits it. The movie is a further exploration of that future world produced with the scale and scope that new technology makes possible. And its ultimate goal is "to scare the living shit out of you," Scott said via satellite from Iceland. Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, and Noomi Rapace star in the film due in June, 2012.
