Now that two positive trade reviews are in on Twilight: Eclipse, I can weigh in as well.

Twilight Saga: Eclipse Downtown Premiere Draws 3000 Fans, 5000 Guests

From Monday morning, the Twilight fans camped out in a tent city set up in L.A.'s huge Nokia plaza. I walked past them when I went to a Monday night LAFF screening. Their pay-off was the Eclipse premiere Thursday night, the most fan-friendly event that I have ever seen.

Twilight Hype as Eclipse Opens and Breaking Dawn Breaks in Two

On the eve of Twilight: Eclipse's press junket this weekend and premiere June 24 at the 7000-seat Nokia Theater at the Los Angeles Film Festival, Summit Entertainment has stated the obvious: that the filming of the fourth book in Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series, Breaking Dawn, to be directed by Bill Condon, will be in two parts. The first film is set for November 18, 2011. The cast will return: Three leads Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, plus Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz. Series writer Melissa Rosenberg is writing it now with a fall shoot planned.

MTV Movie Awards: Bullock Should Have Kissed Betty White, Eclipse Clip, Cruise and JLo Dance

As I've said, most awards shows are about people promoting themselves. Wouldn't it be a great idea to get the three stars to intro the Twilight: Eclipse video? (It's below, along with clips from the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Last Airbender, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.) Let's have lovable wise-ass Betty White and hunk Bradley Cooper give embattled star Sandra Bullock an MTV Generation award and everyone will give her a standing ovation and then Bullock will kiss Scarlett Johansson (who has continued working out since she made Iron Man 2). I would have preferred Bullock to kiss White, who quipped, "Honey, don't you ever wear that dress backwards."

Tom Cruise dons producer Les Grossman's hirsute fat suit once again for the MTV Movie Awards, which air on June 6. One video shows a hairy post-Scientology Cruise assaulting an older Cruise reenacting the young Risky Business Cruise. An unintentional meta-enactment of his entire career? Entertainment News:- Lindsay Lohan's video denying drug use and claiming to be in full compliance with court orders did not save her from a Beverly Hills judge Monday, who ordered her to refrain from alcohol, undergo weekly blood tests and wear an alcohol detection bracelet. Lohan's lawyer said she had proof that the actress had airline tickets and missed the May 20th hearing due to a lost passport, and declined the judge's offer to spend thirty minutes reading the list of reasons for the sentencing.

A Smart Note to Twilight Fans from Bill Condon

Writer-director Bill Condon is a smart cookie. On Saturday afternoon, he posted a note to Twilight fans on Facebook, beginning an engagement with them, letting them know he gets their world as he approached getting started on the final installment(s), Breaking Dawn. One of his tasks is going to be figuring out if he's going forward with one or two movies. Summit has not officially yet made that decision, they tell me. Word is, it's two--Condon turned down another movie for scheduling reasons.

Dreamgirls Condon Strong Choice to Direct Twilight: Breaking Dawn

Finally, Summit Entertainment is confirming what we already had heard: that Dreamgirls director and last year's Oscar co-producer Bill Condon will direct the fourth film in the series, Breaking Dawn. This is by far the trickiest--and thickest-- of the four Stephenie Meyer novels, and the film world has been watching with bated breath for any news, posting stories on directors who were under consideration, much less hired. Summit is not confirming whether or not the novel will be adapted into two films or one, or Condon's rumored involvement in a fifth installment.
