Director Mark Cousins Talks 15-Part Epic Series 'The Story of Film,' Coming to TCM September 2

With Mark Cousins bringing his new film, "A Story of Children and Film," to Telluride this weekend, it's perfect timing that on Monday, September 2, TCM presents the first of fifteen episodes of Cousins' epic 2011 documentary, "The Story of Film: An Odyssey," along with 100 films featured in the series.

DVD Review: 'Dark Crimes' from Chandler, Hammett & Woolrich in Tantalizing TCM Noir Box Set

On December 3, the TCM Vault Collection released a tantalizing box set of three film noirs, “The Glass Key,” “Phantom Lady” and “The Blue Dahlia,” all previously unavailable on Region 1 DVD. The connecting thread is crime fiction -- the first two films are based on novels by Dashiell Hammett and Cornell Woolrich, respectively, and the third is from an original screenplay by Raymond Chandler.

Wolf Blitzer Co-Hosts TCM's Month of Politics in Movies

TV audiences aren't getting enough politics, right? That hasn't stopped TCM from dedicating Fridays in October to the intersection of politics and film. This Friday, October 26, co-hosts Ben Mankiewicz of TCM and CNN news anchor and "The Situation Room" host Wolf Blitzer start off with a triple bill including 1962's "Advise and Consent," 1964's "Seven Days in May," and 1976's "All the President's Men." Blitzer shares how he was inspired by tactics used in "All the President's Men" to confirm a breaking news story. Mankiewicz and Blitzer hope to use the movies as a way to engage with the current election.
