TIFF Completes 2012 Festival Lineup with Masters, Discovery, Mavericks & Docs: Plus Who's Showing Up

Toronto 37 has rounded out its 2012 festival titles, adding 40-plus titles to its massive slate. New films announced in the Masters program include the North American premieres of Michael Haneke's "Amour," Olivier Assayas's "Something in the Air," Abbas Kiarostami's "Like Someone in Love" and the world premieres of Michael Winterbottom's "Everyday" and Goran Paskaljevic's "When Day Breaks."

The new trailer for Juan Antonio Bayona's "The Impossible" aims for the tear ducts. Thailand tsunami disaster + true story of a family's survival + U2's "One Love" + Naomi Watts + Ewan McGregor. We are sold (and crying), hook, line and sinker. Bayona reteamed with his "The Orphanage" screenwriter, Sergio G. Sánchez. Watch the terrifying and gorgeously shot trailer below. The film lands in theaters December 21 after playing next month in Toronto.

TIFF Adds Gala, Special Screenings, Contemporary World Cinema and Wavelengths; 'A Song for Marion' Will Close Fest

The Toronto International Film Festival has added more than 75 new titles to its expansive 2012 smorgasbord. The festival (September 6-16) will close with a Gala presentation of Andrew Williams' "A Song For Marion," starring Vanessa Redgrave and Terence Stamp.

TIFF Preview: First-Time Writer-Director Josh Boone Talks 'Writers,' Starring Greg Kinnear, Jennifer Connelly and Lily Collins

"Writers," directed by first-time feature filmmaker Josh Boone, has its world premiere in the Special Presentations section of TIFF 2012. Greg Kinnear stars as a successful writer estranged from his ex-wife (Jennifer Connelly) and dealing with his kids' coming-of-age: 19-year-old daugher Samantha (Lily Collins) is already celebrating her first book publication, though her love life isn't quite so functional, and 16-year-old son Rusty (Nat Wolff) is in the throes of a troubled first relationship.

Good Lineup, Eh? TIFF Announces Canadian Titles; Includes Sarah Polley, Xavier Dolan, Brandon Cronenberg

Toronto has announced the homegrown portion of its lineup. Canadian filmmakers represent in both a feature film category and "Short Cuts Canada," as well as a selection of films funded by the National Film Board of Canada.

Sony Pictures Classics Acquires 'At Any Price'

In advance of festival premieres at Venice and Toronto, Sony Pictures Classics has scooped up all North American and Eastern European rights (excluding CIS and Russia) to Ramin Bahrani's "At Any Price," starring Dennis Quaid, Zac Efron, Kim Dickens and Heather Graham, which debuted in the Cannes market.

'Seven Psychopaths' Among 60+ New Titles Added to Toronto Lineup; Classics Include Hitchcock, Polanski & Rossellini

The Toronto International Film Festival adds sixty new films to its previously announced titles, including titles in the Documentary, Midnight Madness, Vanguard, Kids and Cinematheque programs, as well as the ten films from Mumbai playing in City to City. Still not listed in the official line-up is Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master," which reportedly has a slot. Count on Harvey Weinstein to seek yet another splashy headline after holding out for solo stories on Venice.
