WATCH: First Clip of Mia Wasikowska as Outback Adventurer Robyn Davidson in 'Tracks'

One of the many exciting premieres awaiting fall festival goers is John Curran's "Tracks," starring Mia Wasikowska as Robyn Davidson, the real-life trail blazer who in 1977 at age 27 embarked on a 1700-mile journey across the Australian Outback with four camels and a dog. The film debuts at Venice and Toronto. Watch a first-look clip below.

Ranking the Top 15 Best Picture Oscar Contenders Before the Fall Festivals

I was happy to give MovieCityNews webmaster David Poland my top 15 picks for the Best Picture Field. I didn't have to rank them, and while I haven't seen most of them, I could certainly take a stab at where the For Your Consideration ads are likely to go. So now he's assembled a ranking of the Top 15 based on his 15 Gurus. I am in perfect sync on the top six films.

A first trailer for "Parkland," on the JFK assassination and the chaotic events at Dallas' Parkland Hospital in 1963, has landed. Toronto Unleashes Final Wave of Programming, Includes Claire Denis, Jia Zhangke, Catherine Breillat and More

The Toronto International Film Festival unleashed its final wave of programming announcements this morning. The final count of films is totaling 288 features and 78 shorts, representing 70 countries from around the globe. The fest is boasting 146 world premieres.

TIFF First Looks: Binoche and Owen in 'Words and Pictures,' Franco's 'Child of God'

With the announcement of 75 new titles added to Toronto 2013's lineup, a few new first-look images have arrived as well. Clive Owen and Juliette Binoche star in Fred Schepisi's "Words and Pictures" as frustrated artists and teachers; the ever-prolific James Franco's "Child of God" stars Franco, Scott Haze, Tim Blake Nelson and Jim Parrack in the Cormac McCarthy adaptation.

Toronto Announces 75 New Titles, Includes Miyazaki's 'The Wind Rises,' Durkin's 'Southcliffe,' Gibney's 'Armstrong Lie' and More

The 2013 Toronto International Film Festival has announced its second wave of programming. Included in the 75 added titles are new work by Hayao Miyazaki ("The Wind Rises," which recently had its Japanese premiere), Sean Durkin (miniseries "Southcliffe"), Alex Gibney ("The Armstrong Lie," newly acquired for stateside release by Sony Pictures Classics), Kevin Macdonald ("How I Lie Now," starring Saoirse Ronan and Tom Holland) and James Franco ("Child of God," making its North American premiere).

Errol Morris's Rumsfeld Doc Is Popular on the Fall Festival Circuit, But May Not Play the New York Film Festival

Already one of the fall’s more eagerly anticipated films, “The Unknown Known” – Errol Morris’s take on the beloved Donald Rumsfeld, the very idea of which makes our toes curl -- seems poised to be the biggest doc of the season. Word is that the film has not only been invited to the Telluride and Toronto International Film Festivals but it's become the first of two docs ever accepted into competition at the Venice Biennale (the other being the homegrown “Sacro Gra” by Gianfranco Rosi).
