TIFF Watch: Cohen Media and Focus World Pick Up Doueiri's 'The Attack'

Cohen Media Group and Focus World are joining forces for the North American 2013 release of Ziad Doueiri's "The Attack," a drama-thriller following an Arab surgeon who uncovers a shocking secret about his late wife, a victim of a suicide bombing in Tel Aviv. The film will be a special presentation at Toronto in September.

108 Media Pacts with Paladin to Jointly Release Films in North America (VIDEO)

Toronto sales and distribution company 108 Media is partnering with Mark Urman's New York indie Paladin to jointly release films in North America. The duo will kick off the pact with an initial slate of five recent 108 Media acquisitions to launch through the first quarter of 2013.

Sony Pictures Classics Takes Redford's Venice & Toronto Bound 'The Company You Keep'

Sony Pictures Classics has taken U.S. rights to Robert Redford's upcoming Weather Underground drama "The Company You Keep." The movie boasts an impressive cast: Redford, Shia LeBeouf, Julie Christie, Brendan Gleeson, Terence Howard, Richard Jenkins, Anna Kendrick, Brit Marling, Stanley Tucci, Nick Nolte, Chris Cooper, and Susan Sarandon.

TIFF Preview: Fox Searchlight Pushes Oscar Contender 'The Sessions,' Releases Poster

Fox Searchlight, which snapped up Ben Lewin's "The Sessions" (formerly "The Surrogate") at Sundance for $6 million, holds high Oscar hopes for film, which stars John Hawkes as journalist and poet Mark O'Brien, who is afflicted with polio but wants to have sex. (Think "My Left Foot.") Searchlight is pushing the film into the Oscar race at Toronto, as it did Oscar-winner "Slumdog Millionaire."

TIFF Completes 2012 Festival Lineup with Masters, Discovery, Mavericks & Docs: Plus Who's Showing Up

Toronto 37 has rounded out its 2012 festival titles, adding 40-plus titles to its massive slate. New films announced in the Masters program include the North American premieres of Michael Haneke's "Amour," Olivier Assayas's "Something in the Air," Abbas Kiarostami's "Like Someone in Love" and the world premieres of Michael Winterbottom's "Everyday" and Goran Paskaljevic's "When Day Breaks."

TIFF Adds Gala, Special Screenings, Contemporary World Cinema and Wavelengths; 'A Song for Marion' Will Close Fest

The Toronto International Film Festival has added more than 75 new titles to its expansive 2012 smorgasbord. The festival (September 6-16) will close with a Gala presentation of Andrew Williams' "A Song For Marion," starring Vanessa Redgrave and Terence Stamp.
