Tribeca Review: 'Richard Pryor: Omit the Logic' Leaves Out Insight

It is perplexing to understand how a documentary about someone as funny, alive, honest, edgy, and brilliant as Richard Pryor can fall so flat. Marina Zenovich’s documentary on the comedian, "Richard Pryor: Omit the Logic," premiering at Tribeca, testifies to the comedian's humor and brilliantly dark view of the world around him. But "Omit the Logic" doesn’t show the audience anything new or insightful about him.

Tribeca Film Institute Honors 'Middle of Nowhere' Director Ava DuVernay, Latin American Filmmakers

"Middle of Nowhere" director Ava DuVernay is the well-deserved winnr of Tribeca Film Institute's first Heineken Affinity Award, which gives the African American independent filmmaker $20,000 in cash as well as year-round support from TFI for future projects.

Tribeca Film Institute Announces Four Projects to Receive $140K from Sloan Filmmaker Fund

The Tribeca Film Institute today announced the four projects that will receive financial and creative support from the TFI Sloan Filmmaker Fund. A total of $140,000 in funds will be awarded and recognized at this year's Tribeca Film Festival (April 17-28).

Tribeca All Access Celebrates Ten Years, Adds Eleven New Projects

The Tribeca Film Institute’s first-ever artist program – Tribeca All Access -- is celebrating its 10th Annual program with 11 new projects (highlighted below) and a TAA Celebration on April 26, during the Tribeca Film Festival. A total of $150,000 in grants will be awarded to filmmakers.

Tribeca Film Institute Awards New Media Grants

The Tribeca Film Institute announces the grant recipients for its second annual TFI New Media Fund. The grants are designed for an assortment of interactive, non-fiction, transmedia projects, and range from $50K to $100K apiece, with funding effective immediately. List of recipients below.
