Things I Learned On the Awards Party Circuit

Things I Learned On the Awards Party Circuit
On Oscar night I started on the red carpet --taking pictures, grabbing video interviews and tweeting madly--and then repaired to the interview room to listen to the show and backstage Q and As (transcripts here). After the best picture winners for The King's Speech had wrapped up, I walked over to the Governor's Ball just as Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban were leaving, heading down the escalator; the trio of winning producers, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman and Gareth Unwin, posed for me with their Oscars.

@JonFavreau knows what he is doing: he posted Universal's Cowboys & Aliens (July 29) Super Bowl XLV spot hours ahead of time on Twitter (and YouTube) in advance of the Super Bowl (below). Now you can see Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig fighting the aliens--they're like fighter planes. Paramount went all-out on five movie spots (which Fox sells at about $3 million for 30 seconds, or $100,000 a second): they're showing Marvel's Captain America and Thor, plus J.J. Legends: Nicholson's Wisdom, Marley's Reggae Life, TV vs. Film for Femme Superheroes

- Jack Nicholson sat down with The Daily Mail's Louise Gannon, who calls him, at 73, "a man who remains implacably resistant to rules." He mostly talked about aging and women: "If men are honest, everything they do and everywhere they go is for a chance to see women. There were points in my life where I felt oddly irresistible to women. I’m not in that state now and that makes me sad."
