Mad Men has been all over the news, from showrunner Matthew Weiner's contract dispute with AMC to disputes about how advertising should be used on the show. Isn't Mad Men about advertising? Sure. But that doesn't mean Weiner should sacrifice his creative integrity.

Ridley Scott Takes on Follett's World Without End; Cast includes Nixon, Richardson, Chaplin, Firth

UPDATE 6/29: Principal photography will begin July 11 on World Without End, with actors Cynthia Nixon, Miranda Richardson, Ben Chaplin, Peter Firth, Charlotte Riley, Megan Follows and Sarah Gadon and more. The eight-hour series has a $44 million pricetag, and exec producer Rola Bauer says; "Our strategy has always been to bring cinematic values to television. In addition to having Michael Caton-Jones’ strong and experienced directorial vision on all eight hours of this epic thriller, we have assembled an exemplary cast who will make these great characters come alive on screen and attract audiences worldwide.”

Mad Men Tug-of-War Delays Show to 2012: Who Should Give In?

Last week Jon Hamm warned ominously that we probably won't see another Mad Men until 2012. AMC confirmed that Tuesday, although it has ordered more episodes from Lionsgate. That's way too long: the show has run over the past four summers.

Actress Watch: Williams' Monroe, Green's Dark Shadows, Winslet the "Only Actress" for Mildred Pierce

- One of Michelle Williams's co-stars in The Weinstein Co.'s My Week With Marilyn, Dougray Scott, tells the Irish Independent that she is "amazing" portraying Monroe. He adds, "I can imagine [Michelle felt pressure] but she was amazing. She's a wonderful actress and lovely girl as well. I had great fun working with her." Simon Curtis directed the film, which is based on the diary of an assistant, Colin Clark, who worked on the set of The Prince And The Showgirl in 1956. Of his own role, that of Monroe's husband, playwright Arthur Miller, Scott says "[he is] such an iconic, interesting, enigmatic character, I had great fun researching and filming that."

Pilot Casting: Sevigny for Lizzie Borden, Drescher Happily Divorced, Chenoweth's Christian Bitches

- Several actresses are lining up TV pilots. Chloe Sevigny, of Big Love (which is winding up its final fifth season run on HBO), is attached to star in an HBO miniseries, reports Variety, about the infamous Lizzie Borden (pictured, 1890), to be produced by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman's Playtone.

Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie: Ferrell says “You Can’t Put A Price on Creative Excellence"

Magnolia Pictures has acquired U.S. rights for Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. The film is a co-production between 2929 Productions, Gary Sanchez Productions and Funny or Die Films. It is the feature film debut (as writer-producer-directors) of Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim of the Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! which has had five seasons air on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim channel (a clip is below).
