Why Roadside Attractions Is the Right Distributor to Handle Justin Simien's College Satire 'Dear White People' (VIDEO)

With a solid target audience of college students and millennials, it will be fascinating to see how Roadside Attractions handles the release of marketer-turned-filmmaker Justin Simien's cutting racial satire "Dear White People," given that the Sundance prize-winner started out as a provocative concept trailer that went viral in 2012 on Twitter, Facebook, Vimeo, crowd-funding site Indiegogo and YouTube. This provided investors with reason to back the rookie director's first feature.

One of the genius moments from the 86th Oscars was Ellen DeGeneres collecting multiple attendees into an impromptu Oscar selfie with herself, Jared Leto, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Meryl Streep, Juia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey, and Lupita Nyong'o and her brother Junior.

Debate Continues Over Use of A.O. Scott's Modified 'Llewyn Davis' Tweet; He Said No to Publicity Team When Approached UPDATED

UPDATE: It seems that when A.O. Scott was approached over email by "Inside Llewyn Davis" publicist Cynthia Swartz about using his tweet in a full-page NYT ad for the film, he gave her a pretty clear "No." Per the Times, he responded to Swartz via email:

Robert Downey Jr, Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio and Sandra Bullock Top Vulture's 100 Most Valuable Stars of 2013

Vulture has released its annual list of the "100 Most Valuable Stars," using a proprietary algorithm that takes into account factors like box office, media coverage, Twitter chatter (newly added in 2013), reviews and knowledge from a tribunal of studio execs. On Monday, Decemeber 17, the 2012 Black List will be announced via Twitter. The titles will be named in a random order every minute. Once all the titles have been named, the top 10 will be announced in reverse order. Then the complete list, along with loglines, will be available on the Black List's site.
