'The Great Gatsby' Scores in Oz with 14 Australian Oscar Nominations

While Aussie Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" is unlikely to nab any above-the-line Oscar nominations in the upcoming awards season, it's scoring across the board at the Australian Oscars, with nominations announced today. "Gatsby" landed 14 nods, leading the pack with a Best Picture nod, and Acting nods for stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Elizabeth Debicki and Isla Fisher.

While Aussie Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" is unlikely to nab any above-the-line Oscar nominations in the upcoming awards season--tech noms are a possibility, of course--it's scoring across the board at the Australian Oscars, with nominations announced Tuesday. "Gatsby" landed 14 nods, leading the pack with a Best Picture nod, and Acting nods for stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Elizabeth Debicki and Isla Fisher.

In terms of winning Best Picture, "Gatsby" has Kim Mordaunt's coming-of-age tale "The Rocket" to contend with, also Australia's official entry for the stateside Foreign-Language Oscar race. The full list of Australian Academy Award nominees is here.
