The Toronto International Film Festival announces the Shangri-La Hotel Toronto Asian Film Summit will take place on September 10; the fest runs September 6-16. The Shangri-La Hotel summit will bring together key leaders in film production, distribution, finance, exhibition and policy, with international action star Jackie Chan attending as the event's guest of honor.

The goal of the summit is to strengthen ties between Asian film industries and the West. Toronto is "a prime meeting place" for the summit, said TIFF artistic director Cameron Bailey, as the festival is "both a key launchpad to films in North America and home to huge audiences for Asian cinema."

The full TIFF Asian summit lineup will be announced in the coming weeks on the festival's website.
