The two-minute trailer for editor-turned-director Jay Gammill's feature debut "Free Samples" gives away equal doses of quirk and desperation (video posted below). The film centers on an irritably hungover and charmingly tousled Stanford law-school dropout ("Teeth"'s Jess Weixler) who does a stint scooping treats from an ice cream truck, doling out cynical insults and woebegone confessions to a parade of customers throughout the day.

The filmmakers hope to pick up a distributor for "Free Samples" at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it premieres on April 20, 2012.
