Trailer Watch: Richard Gere Pulls a Bernie Madoff in 'Arbitrage'

The trailer for Nicholas Jarecki's Sundance screw-turner "Arbitrage" has just landed, featuring Richard Gere as a Bernie Madoff-like investment "oracle" quickly losing his funds and defrauding auditors right and left.

The trailer for Nicholas Jarecki's Sundance screw-turner "Arbitrage" has just landed, featuring Richard Gere as a Bernie Madoff-like investment "oracle" quickly losing his funds and defrauding auditors right and left. 

The film also stars Brit Marling as Gere's daughter and chief investment officer, who stands to lose her job and any prospect of another job when the $400 million shoe drops. Susan Sarandon plays Gere's wife, and Tim Roth a lead detective investigating the embezzlement and a mysterious car crash involving Gere's mistress.

The film releases on VOD and in theaters on September 14, via Roadside Attractions.

Thompson on Hollywood

Born and raised in Manhattan, Anne Thompson grew up going to the Thalia and The New Yorker and wound up at grad Cinema Studies at NYU. She worked at United Artists and Film Comment before heading west as that magazine's west coast editor.
