Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock topline Stephen Daldry's Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, based on Jonathan Safran Foer's novel. Newcomer Thomas Horn looks to be making a great debut here, and the supporting cast of Max Von Sydow, Viola Davis, John Goodman, Jeffrey Wright and James Gandofini don't hurt a bit either. Yes, there's plenty of Oscar-baity heart-tugging; the film will finally arrive in theaters nationwide January 20, after a qualifying NY/LA run.

Trailer makes me want to see this film right now. Hanks is a perfect Dad, Sandra is wonderful. So much beauty and delicacy in her grief. Horn looks like a true find. It will be nice to see if America is ready to embrace a beautiful story with 9-11 as the backdrop. If we do, I think it says alot about how ready we are to heal.

The trailer looks good. Thomas Horn seems to be giving a strong performance. Do you think he could get a supporting actor nomination? (even though he's clearly a lead).
I am very excited to finally look at Daldry's work on one of my favorite book.
Also, Bullock could strike a nod in the supporting category...hurt mother carying the mourn after 9/11.
