The fact that Sony left the "unofficial" red band trailer for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo up so long over the Memorial Day weekend suggests that they went along with for the promo ride--and now the official green band trailer is up (below). No nudity, natch.

UPDATE: Given Lisbeth Salander's hacker bent, it's no surprise that Sony would go for viral leaks like this French poster (via slashfilm).

Without violence and nudity, I feel that the official green band trailer is much less radical, nasty and riveting than the red band trailer. Maybe Sony should had edited the the official green band trailer in a totally different style.

Looks like Sony want to sell "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" as an erotic thriller in overseas markets. It would be a good way to distinguish this film from the Swedish original film. Furthermore, sex and nudity are still much more marketable materials in overseas markets than in US. (ie. The $30 million-budgeted "Love & Other Drugs" didn't do very well at US box office, but that film could still gross more than $102 million at worldwide box office.)
