Woody Allen's latest, Midnight in Paris, starring Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Michael Sheen, Marion Cotillard, Cathy Bates, Adrian Brody, Alison Pill, Lea Seydoux and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, hits theaters May 20 after opening Cannes on May 11. Here's the new trailer:

    That looks LOVELY. I love the cinematography and the production design, and although it's completely pointless to judge the acting based on these brief snippets, the performances look good, too. I think one of the main problems with some of Allen's recent work is that while his dialogue seems witty on the page, it is hard to actually speak, resulting in stilted, unconvincing performances from his actors that somehow feel underrehearsed. But Wilson and McAdams seem up to the task.

    Let's hope this is more "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" than "Scoop". I'm optimistic.
