Just before its premiere in Un Certain Regard at Cannes this year, the trailer for James Franco's "As I Lay Dying" has emerged. This is Franco's adaptation of William Faulkner's 1930 novel. Franco has written and directed the film and will star as Darl Bundren.

Though judging from a trailer is always extrapolating, it seems that his version will be as fiercely character driven as Faulkner's multi-perspective American classic.

In addition to Franco, the movie also stars Danny McBride, Tim Blake Nelson, Beth Grant, Logan Marshall-Green and Ahna O'Reilly.

Jesus Christ! Where does this guy find the time to do all these films, let alone even directing a few? Is there more than one Franco?

    This looks laughably bad.

I didn't even watch the trailer, but i'm sure he'll play Darl. And I won't begrudge him it.

Was hoping for a wee bit more titillation.
