The West Memphis Three's long quest for justice was featured in both HBO's "Paradise Lost" doc trilogy (from directors Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky) and Amy Berg's investigative Sundance entry "West of Memphis," produced by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Echols, which helped to break the case. The true story will reach a much wider audience in narrative form and with Oscar-winning stars Firth and Witherspoon attached. Trailers for the docs below.
Writers Paul Harris Boardman and Scott Derrickson adapted journalist Mara Leveritt's book, "Devil's Knot," and are also producing with Elizabeth Fowler, Richard Saperstein and Clark Peterson, alongside Worldview Entertainment’s CEO, Christopher Woodrow. Worldview’s Molly Conners, Sarah Johnson Redlich, Maria Cestone and Hoyt David Morgan serve as exec producers, alongside two of the West Memphis Three'; Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley Jr. The Weinsteins are handling international sales and CAA is handling North American rights.
