Toronto Film Festival Global Summit Draws Michael Moore, Douglas Trumbull

The Toronto International Film Festival is rounding up some 180 speakers from 80 countries for its annual industry conference and global summit (September 5 to 11). The headliner is cinema technology visionary Douglas Trumbull ("2001: A Space Odyssey"), the opening keynote speaker for the annual Asian Film Summit (September 9) is Legendary East’s Peter Loehr.

National Film Registry Selects 'Pulp Fiction,' 'Mary Poppins,' 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf' and More for Preservation

The National Film Registry has selected 25 films to be added to its catalog of titles to be preserved by the Library of Congress. The films selected certainly run the gamut -- Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction" was chosen alongside Disney live-action classic "Mary Poppins."

Michael Moore Mounts His 9th Traverse City Film Festival with 150 Screenings

Michael Moore's Traverse City Film Festival, celebrating its ninth year, runs July 31 through August 4 in Traverse City, Michigan. The running theme of the festival is "Just Great Movies," and this year's program lineup boasts over 150 films, with a record number of industry guests invited. Kicking off the fest is Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine," while Brit documentarian Michael Apted will appear in person with "56 Up."
