WATCH: Martin Scorsese Interviews Wong Kar-wai on Oscar Shortlisted 'The Grandmaster'

On January 8, Martin Scorsese sat down with Wong Kar-wai at New York's Lighthouse Theatre to talk the latter's "The Grandmaster," shortlisted for a Best Foreign-Language Film Oscar. Incredibly, Wong has yet to receive a nomination from the Academy. But that could be rectified this coming Thursday, when the 2014 nominations list will be rolled out bright and early at 5:38am PST.

'Grandmaster' Wong Kar-Wai Mourns 35 MM, Honors Fading Martial Arts (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO)

Hong Kong filmmaker Wong kar-wai ("In the Mood for Love") is an engaging and articulate man. He's happy that after two years of research travel around Asia meeting the grandmasters of martial arts, his film "The Grandmaster" is not only his second to be submitted by Hong Kong for the best foreign Oscar, but made the shortlist of nine.
