Universal invested serious coin in this 1987 Dragnet MTV music video for the hit hip-hop single City of Crime (which played over the closing credits), starring the rap-and-dance team of Tom Hanks and Dan Aykroyd (below).

It's damned good: Hanks and Aykroyd performed along with bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes and guitarist Pat Thrall. It's also clear that the basic music video elements--relatively fresh at the time--are still tried-and-true: singing and dancing, tits and ass.

So awesome that you posted this. I actually owned the album and "City of Crime" was a top Billboard hit that summer if I remember (making it into the top 40??). Priceless. Tom Hanks should rap again for the Julia Roberts film he's doing.
