GREAT WORLD OF SOUND Hits Theatres Today!

I've talked about this friggin' movie enough already, but it must be mentioned one more time, as this is the day that every filmmaker dreams about. Released by the incredibly well taste-budded folks at Magnolia Pictures, Craig Zobel's excellent GREAT WORLD OF SOUND opens on two screens in New York City. What a long way GWOS has come since its splash of a debut at Sundance this past January, and what a longer way Craig has come since shooting the film in the summer of 2005. It sounds like our posse is attending the 7:45 screening at the Angelika, which will be followed by a Q&A with at least Craig and Pat, though I personally am planning on sticking to my boycott of that theater to see it uptown at Lincoln Plaza in the afternoon. I've seen it so many times with Craig in attendance that it will be more exciting to watch it in an environment where random people are walking into it without having any connection to the production. The thing I'm most excited about, however, is that it's a 35mm print. Hello, Hollywood!

If you've already seen GREAT WORLD OF SOUND, you should nonetheless go see it again to support this year's little indie that could, and if you haven't seen it, then you have absolutely no excuse. Craig Zobel's GREAT WORLD OF SOUND might very well be the best new American movie of 2007. SEE IT THIS WEEKEND OR I'LL PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE.
