It's no secret that Jerry Schatzberg's Scarecrow holds a very special place in my heart. This week, Anthology Film Archives is screening six films from throughout Schatzberg's wide-ranging career, The Films of Jerry Schatzberg. Not only is the aforementioned Scarecrow part of the lineup, but rarer works like his debut, Puzzle of a Downfall Child, are included. Tonight brings an especially enticing double-bill of two films that aren't available on home video, 1979's The Seduction of Joe Tynan and 1989's Reunion.

I woke up this morning with the urge to go to the movies, but I felt like seeing something old instead of new. But I also didn't want to merely revisit a film I'd already seen before—like The 39 Steps at BAM or Shoot The Piano Player at Film Forum. Tonight, thanks to Anthology, I'll get to see two old movies on the big screen for the very first time.
