Absolute Must-See Cinema Today at 4pm at MoMA: GAEA GIRLS

As I wrote over at Hammer to Nail yesterday, do whatever you have to do to attend today’s 4pm screening of Kim Longinotto’s Gaea Girls. Call in sick, leave work early, quit your job, hop on a plane, whatever. Even though it’s from 2000, this is easily one of my tippy-top revelations of 2009. And even though I saw it a week ago, I’ll be back again this afternoon. While all of the Longinotto films are vital and great, this one is extra-special because it plays itself out like a Hollywood sports drama, albeit an exceptionally real one. tully posted on May 22, 2009 | Permalink | Comments (0)
