Yes, it's true. The moment the world has desperately been anticipating. Thanks to the good folks at Indiepix, COCAINE ANGEL will finally be available for purchase on DVD on August 28, 2007. But this isn't just any old release. It's a two-disc special edition that has more information and goodies than even the most die-hard fan could want. We're talking two audio commentaries (the first with Damian and DP Shawn Lewallen and the second with yours truly and editor Dave Lahn), a 30-minute behind-the-scenes documentary (the moment where I direct someone to say, "Get tha fuck out my truck, bitch," in my stupid drawl is worth the price of admission alone), and a ton of deleted scenes, led by "Cathouse: Anamorphic," which might very well be the worst five-minute scene/short film in the history of low-budget filmmaking. Damian wanted this package to be a sort of film school for aspiring independent filmmakers. While a lot of the bonus footage makes me cringe, in theory I support this decision and agree that it makes for a much more appealing product.
Over at Indiepix, they've posted a bunch of filmmaker interviews, including one with me. Watching that was pretty unsettling. Now I finally know what Ry Russo-Young was talking about with regards to my face. It's like the entire left side of my mouth is numb or dead or something. It's not officially gross or anything, but it's definitely strange and disorienting. I'll be sure not to watch myself talking ever again, if at all possible. That said, I've watched a bunch of the other interviews and they're worth checking out. You should too. It's Friday and it's raining. What else are you doing with your life?
We're planning on having a DVD release party in NYC in conjunction with the official release, so I'll be sure to let everyone know about it when plans are finalized. I'm hoping to set up a booth where you can shoot cocaine into your bloodstream or something fun like that.
Time to paint an apartment now. Until those royalty checks start pouring in, I gotta pay the rent somehow...
