Well, I guess David Berman wasn't just messing around when he recruited my cousin John to perform a mini-set at his "Drag City Publicity Stunt" last September in NYC...
because not only did he give John an incredibly glowing plug right here...
but he's recruited him to open for the Silver Jews at Webster Hall on March 17th and 18th. Unfortunately, both shows are sold out, but for those of you who have tickets, relish your good fortune. In a criminally cruel twist of fate, I will still be in Austin with COCAINE ANGEL on those days, so I won't be able to attend the festivities (at least it's not because I have to drive to traffic court in Virginia or get my wisdom teeth pulled). But my lovely sisters Carol and Colleen will be there--as well as John's brother Tim--so the Tully contingent will be in almost-full effect. But, man, that's some pretty bad timing. Not to mention the fact that the first show is on St. Patty's Day. There really couldn't be a dreamier set-up.
If you haven't already, listen to more of John's music at www.myspace/jtsongs.
DC is right, though hopefully that "undiscovered" status will lose the "un" some time soon.
