DAYDREAM Nation (Perhaps?)

I can't wait to get back up to NYC in time for Saturday's sold-out screening of SNOW ANGELS at BAM. While I read an early draft of the script, that was a very long time ago and I missed my chance to see a rough cut, so this will be the first of David's movies that I'll be seeing with totally fresh, unaffected eyes. I'm very excited! For those of you North Carolina School of the Arts diehards, be sure not to miss GREAT WORLD OF SOUND at 3:15 to confirm that the early classes in that school's film program have produced a staggering array of gifted filmmakers. Just to name a few: David Gordon Green, R. Craig Zobel, Tim Orr, Danny McBride, Paul Schneider, Jane Rizzo, Christof Gebert, Nate Meyer, Ben Best, Damian Lahey, Adam Stone, Richard Wright, Jody Hill, Keir Randall, Andy Gillis, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc...

All week I've been torturing myself trying to decide on a feature film to shoot this summer/fall. Then today, while painting, a minor nudge from my brother-in-law might have given me the spark that I needed. Two hours ago, it hit me. Why am I struggling to come up with an idea when I've had a supremely doable idea for many years now. This October. New York City. DAYDREAM is where it's at. The reason I'd put that script to bed was that I had begun to think of it in serious movie terms, which pretty much meant that it wasn't going to happen. But if I just regroup and take the CA approach, it all seems exciting and possible once again. So maybe Kelly Macdonald won't be on board, but that's okay. Provided I find a boy and girl who get me excited and respond to the material, DAYDREAM will become its own special creation.

Mind you, I'll probably wake up tomorrow morning having already talked myself out of this decision, but for now, DAYDREAM it is...
