Told y'all I was gonna make it to Bal'more tonight to see Figurines. And I even talked a friend into joining me so I didn't look like a total loser. Thanks, Nicole.
They were really great. A set full of hits. www.figurines.dk
As for Tapes 'n Tapes, they didn't really do it for me. Not that they're bad. They were fine, I suppose. Perhaps just not worthy of New York Times coverage.
A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION this weekend.
Next weekend's going to be crazy fun, so I'm just gonna lay low this weekend and pray with all of my soul that Federer and Nadal win tomorrow so I can wake up on Sunday to watch what could possibly be the most exciting match in the history of men's tennis. Go Roger!
Fellow Indiewire blogger Tom Hall's World Cup coverage has me amped for that event as well. Keep the updates coming, Tom. And I couldn't agree more that this is one situation where I am actually rooting for the US. Though I still don't think we have what it takes to go all the way.
I took Maddie to Toys "R" Us today to buy her an Ariel doll (I think she's from THE LITTLE MERMAID but I could be completely off on that one). Unfortunately, when we got home Stella went batshit and wanted it for herself. Being the compassionate uncle that I am, I got the fuck out of Dodge and let Karen deal with the situation. "Dealing with the situation" consisted of them rushing back to Toys "R" Us so Karen could buy Stella her own Ariel doll.
Here's a picture of them from last weekend to prove that they actually do know how to get along:
Happy Friday to you, yours, and my amazing nieces...
