Today should be the day when the big GREAT WORLD OF SOUND news is going to go public. Most of you in the know probably already know, but for those of you who don't, get ready for some very inspiring and exciting news. I wish I could spill the beans right now, but I'm not gonna do that. Suffice to say--or, rather, as a drunken Wingo would say--it is UHH-MAYY-ZINGG!
The only bad thing is that Mr. Zobel himself has spun wayyyyyy out of control. The recent success at Sundance, the impending distribution, and a trip to Paris with his girlfriend has unleashed a monster. He's now walking around Austin in a beret and speaking with a horrifically pretentious French accent, saying things like, "Godard... Truffaut... Zobel!" and "I have come to resurrect the auteur--get out of my way, indie amateurs!" It's quite unsettling. Please try to talk him down if you see him. I fear that it's only going to get worse once they make the official announcement.
Oh yeah, lastly, I guess I should remind people to come see SILVER JEW at 4:30 today at the Alamo Lamar, or if you've already seen it, then pop in next door at 4 to catch QUIET CITY. I promise that today the sound will be better!
