Matthew Lessner's By Modern Measure is one of my favorite shorts of this young century. Many months ago, I saw an early cut of Lessner's debut feature, The Woods, and am convinced that he's onto something quite special. The only problem is that he's run out of money and needs to rely on grassroots graciousness to help complete the film. It's a very original work that was shot on super-16mm by The Execution of Solomon Harris' Wyatt Garfield. Times are tight, but that should only make you feel better for contributing to an artistically worthwhile cause. Visit Lessner's page at Kickstarter to watch a clip, learn more, and contribute whatever you can spare.
