One of the highlights of my recent trip to Israel was experiencing the ass-rocking musical assault that is the Tel Aviv-based Monotonix. They blew everyone away so much that the Silver Jews booked them to open their upcoming shows on the west coast in September.
While they sound good on record, it's their live show that makes them so amazing. They set up off-stage, on the floor, where Ran (stand-up drummer), Yonatan (who makes Jack White sound like a simplistic wussy), and Ami (think if Robert Plant went punk rock), absolutely DESTROY SHIT.
It's like Deep Purple meets Deerhoof or something. Whatever it is, it must be seen to be believed. They play The Trash Bar in Williamsburg at 8pm TONIGHT (Tuesday, the 8th). I'll see ya there...
