A much-needed power nap wasn't quite enough to rejuvenate me completely yesterday, but it helped. My sisters and I caught KAMP KATRINA, which worked even better for me the third time around. That said, if I were to sit through this film another time in the near future I think people might really start wondering about me--when you see it, you'll know what I mean--so that might be it for a while. For those of you who have an opportunity to see David Redmon and Ashley Sabin's film, you must. It is a profound work, presenting humanity in all its contradictory, confusing glory. Life is messy, it is beautiful, heartbreaking, hilarious, and sad. KAMP KATRINA is, without question, one of the most vital works of 2007.
I got almost nine hours of sleep last night. While my throat still hurts, I feel like I had a battery transfusion. I'm now ready for the exciting day/night that lies ahead. We have an exciting special guest to introduce SILVER JEW tonight, and after the Q&A it's over to The Basement for a super-fun after-party. I'll be sure to take pics, don't worry.
