I almost can't believe this happened, but I'm not pointing fingers or being too critical. I'm just happy to know that Wednesday's SILVER JEW screening will be in tip-top technical shape, and that no other filmmaker will have to suffer the way many of us did over the course of the past few days.
I watched TRIGGER MAN in theatre one at 7 tonight, at which point I realized the problem was still there. I ordered Craig to do a sound check (which he would have done anyway) and the problem was even worse. Turns out the newly installed HD deck was incorrectly set and everything was blown out. Whoops. They delayed the screening until someone from the company could rush over and fix the problem. Amen. GWOS looked and sounded great. It really is the best new American film of 2007. Though HANNAH is pretty darn good too.
I'm too tired to revisit today for y'all, but I'll do that soon.
This post has one very important purpose. NOTE: WHICHEVER FILMMAKER IS SCREENING AT THE ALAMO DOWNTOWN TOMORROW MORNING, BADGER THE PROJECTIONIST TO MAKE SURE THE SAME PROBLEM IS CORRECTED. I've only seen one HD presentation there, and it was easily the worst of the lot. To anyone who was at the premiere of PRETTY IN THE FACE on Sunday: YOU DID NOT EXPERIENCE THE FILM PROPERLY. I'm not saying you need to see it again, but please understand how badly a sonic situation like that can impact your appreciation of a film.
Time to sleep now. No partying tonight. Hooray for that...
