While my dad is technically "retired," he nevertheless still works more jobs than I can count on one hand. One of those jobs is teaching driver's ed. In an attempt to be a better instructor, he recently signed up for a one-year course of Spanish 101 at the local community college (at least half of his students can't speak "a lick" of English, as he puts it). Anyway, in relation to an upcoming homework assignment, I just overheard him on the phone asking my mom to bring home a "vanilla" folder for his "corsage." What he meant to ask for was a "manilla" folder for his "collage."
The man struggles with the English language, how in the hell is he supposed to conquer Spanish?
