R.I.P. Paul Gleason

Paul Gleason (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0322339/) was my number one choice to play Rad's father in PING-PONG SUMMER, but now that can't happen, as he passed away this Saturday.

Another nail in the coffin.

I always wondered why this incredibly talented man was relegated to schlockier fare in the '90s and beyond after his brilliant run in the mid/late-'80s (most notably THE BREAKFAST CLUB and DIE HARD). Whether appearing in a comedy, drama, or on television, Paul Gleason's commitment to the role at hand made him an electrifying presence.

Unfortunately, I never got a chance to work with him, which was one of my directorial fantasies.

Rest peacefully...
