Just over a year ago, I helped out my good buddy Will Janowitz (The Sopranos) and his creative partner Ryan Homchick on a web series they produced for 15 Gigs, the digital arm of Fox Television Studio. The show, SUPEREGO, is a somewhat demented twist on the 'therapy' genre, in which an unhinged young therapist, Dr. Charlie Knight (Janowitz), practices a form of psychological and emotional healing that in the real world would probably have him locked up in about fifteen seconds. As a director, I felt like my job in this situation was to try to bring a convincing level of reality to Will and Ryan's gonzo vision. Because I have no real background in the art-and-craft of web humor, I took this on as a personal challenge. Along the way, I had a genuine blast. It was extra fun to let loose and experiment and see how crazy we could get while still remaining as grounded as possible.

SUPEREGO is one of the new shows premiering exclusively on the popular website My Damn Channel, which also houses, most notably, David Wain's Wainy Days. The first two episodes are now live, and a handful more will be posting in the coming weeks. Check it out if you're looking for something to do and to help bide your time until my next directorial effort is ready for the taking (praying for early festival season 2011 but we'll see about that).
