Well, goodness gracious, what do we have here? An actual floor leader? Confident freshmen? A genuine spark plug of a sixth man? A deep bench? By golly, this year's Maryland Terrapins are a bona fide force to be reckoned with. Who'da thunk it? I sure didn't, especially after last year's humiliating presentation. Welcome back, lads!
I thought Greivis Vasquez was a bit too fiery for my tastes, but the way he took control in the second half proved to me that he's got the goods to back it up. This post-game quote has me officially on board:
"I'm from Venezuela, and I didn't come here just to sit on the bench. I came here to play," Vasquez said.
And play you did, son!
I don't blame Gary at all for last year's shameful collapse, but now that we have a true point guard and players who know how to tough it out, I'm even more confident that he'll make the best of what he's got. It feels oh-so-very good to feel oh-so-very excited about Maryland basketball once again.
