Today's is a miscellaneous update of sorts. Let us begin...
-- Tonight, Joanna Newsom will be performing live on "The Jimmy Kimmel Show!" How do you say HUH in Talkshowese? I spoke to her after her show with Smog in Charleston this past summer and can officially confirm that she is not of this Earth (I mean that in a good way). Though I was disappointed to realize that my ever-expanding feelings of love and romance were clearly not reciprocated, I forgave her. As for tonight, I'm a little bit worried that the effect won't translate as well through the television as it does seeing her live, but it will be interesting regardless.
-- Starting tomorrow, the Film Society of Lincoln Center will be running a program entitled "Take No Prisoners: The Bold Vision of Kira Muratova." Though I haven't seen any of her films, I've heard only great things about them. I'm attending Saturday's screening of "The Asthenic Syndrome," which I'm quite looking forward to (in that two-and-a-half-hour-harrowingly-intense-Russian-drama type of way).

-- Something called "The Oscars" is on Sunday night. I, however, will be torturing myself watching the Maryland/North Carolina game. Losing at home to Clemson? It's so condemnable that I don't even care. Really. I don't. Seriously. It's just a game. What do I care? I don't. Really. Seriously.
-- If I could bathe in a pool of A1 Sauce, believe me, I would.
-- BOOK OF THE DAY: Harry Crews's "The Gypsy's Curse"
-- MOVIE OF THE DAY: "Mikey and Nicky"
