Sarasota 2008 | Back In The Saddle
Ah, the post-Sundance malaise. No excuse not to work my way through the incredibly ominous piles of screeners, but there it is, sitting on my desktop like a paperweight, that word; malaise. A seriously down-beat week here in Florida, just completely running on fumes. Today was a return to form, of sorts; We're locking in titles and the line-up for the 2008 Sarasota Film Festival is starting to come together. I am really excited about the films we've been able to confirm, but we're only about half-way there. With our late submission deadline arriving today, it is somewhat comforting to know that the pile of screeners will soon stop growing, but as we work our way through them, it also means that the festival proper continues to draw ever closer. Like April 4-13, 2008 closer. One of the other decisive moments in the life of the festival is the launch of the new website and the annual campaign. It's the 10th Anniversary of the festival (my fourth) and as usual, our marketing team have done a great job of capturing the cinematic quality of the festival. First, the new website. Go ahead, click that picture... 10 Years Of Magic. Get it? I love that countdown clock (as if I needed a reminder). And now, the new campaign...
While I'm very excited to have everything taking off at once, I feel very, well, isolated by the work that lies ahead. it's time to get back to that pile of screeners. Like Oliver Twist, I get back in line for my porridge. More, please? Comments
