The Berlin International Film Festival announced their full competition line up for the Golden Bear. Two of the nine films from this most recent announcement are directed by women. As we previously reported, 0 of the 7 (there is one special screening) earlier announced films in competition were directed by women.  While this is better than the 0 that were at Cannes last year, 2 out of 16 is still too low.

Below are the films directed by women. You can find a full list at the link.

Elle s'en va (On my Way)- Director: Emmanuelle Bercot

Layla Fourie - Director: Pia Marais

BERLIN 2013: Steven Soderbergh's 'Side Effects,' Shia LaBeouf Action Comedy in Competition (The Hollywood Reporter)

This is not the complete line-up, they have announced only a few of their selections. The complete list may include new works by Isabel Coixet and Annette Olesen. Also, only 14 films are listed for the competition. Two others are playing out of competition.
