As we know from Kaling’s book of essays, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) and her new show The Mindy Project (which just got a full season pickup), Kaling is very invested in romantic comedy tropes. It’ll be interesting to see if Kaling can take a typical romantic comedy plot and subvert it.
I’m also excited to see Anne Hathaway in this—which sounds as if it could be reminiscent of her role in The Princess Diaries.
As of now, no director is attached.

I hope she does both Robopocalypse and this film -- I want her to keep doing things that aren't back where she started though (Princess Diaries/Devil Wears Prada) -- she does such a good job in all of these other genres too (TDKR/Les Mis).

Anne Hathaway is very versatile. She pretty much tackled every genre possible on screen, it's nice to see her return to her roots!
