WGA Releases Annual Writing Report And Women Make Small Progress

The Writers Guild West released its annual diversity report on the status of women, minority and older writers.  Hollywood continues to make incremental, pathetic, baby steps towards diversity.  The numbers show that in a little over a decade from 1999 to 2011, women have increased their positions just 5 percentage points from 25% to 30%.

Krysten Ritter, Margo Martindale and Melanie Lynskey Nab New Pilots

Some of our favorite underappreciated actresses have been cast in pilots for the upcoming Fall TV season. The hilarious Krysten Ritter of the dearly departed Apartment 23 has been cast as the lead in Leslye Headland’s Assistance, a talent combination that is almost too perfect. The terrific Margo Martindale has been cast in a new CBS comedy pilot and Melanie Lynskey has landed a role in the new HBO comedy from the Duplass Brothers.
