Catherine Hardwicke has signed on to direct the adaptation of Karen Thompson Walker's bestseller (and one of my favorite books of last year) Age of Miracles

Age of Miracles follows ten year old, Julia, during a natural disaster called "the slowing", --  the slowing of the earth's rotation and the expanding the days. Beyond dealing with how "the slowing" has effected her family, neighborhood and entire existence, Julia also has to deal with being a young girl navigating friendships and crushes.

A script is completed but there are no dates or casting reported yet.

She directed the best episode of Twilight (by far) but I wonder if is she happy with focusing only a young females with angst ridden and emotionally challenged girls as her protagonists?
