The good news about this film is that it had almost an even split between men and women - males moviegoers made up 47% of the US ticket buyers. The film also had an older audience -- 52% was over 30. This goes to show that men will see films that star women just as long as they think they are going to have a good time and get some action scenes. Interestingly, it took men less time to get to the theatre to see Snow White than it did to see The Hunger Games which started out heavily skewed female and then shifted as positive word of mouth spread.
Charlize's other big movie Prometheus beat out Snow White at the box office in the UK where it opened last weekend. Prometheus took in $35 million as it rolled out overseas. The film opens in the US this Friday.
It's pretty cool that Charlize Theron stars in two big budget summer action movies. Her box office cred just went way up.
