Tribeca Women Directors: Meet Amy Berg (Every Secret Thing)

"'Every Secret Thing' is a psychological thriller about a small, suburban New York town that must revisit a tragic murder from seven years earlier when a young girl goes missing in broad daylight. The film is important because it examines the gray area -- the why and how things happen."

AFI Review: The Central Park Five - Co-Directed by Sarah Burns and West of Memphis - Directed by Amy Berg

Los Angeles’ AFI Film Festival gave me the chance to see two documentary films directed by women: The Central Park Five co-directed by Sarah Burns, Ken Burns and David McMahon and West of Memphis, directed by Amy Berg. Despite initial Oscar buzz for both films, sadly they have both been snubbed in the documentary feature race.

In 1994, three teenagers from Arkansas were convicted, despite lack of any physical evidence, of ritually murdering three 8 year old boys. Amy Berg's acclaimed documentary West of Memphis takes a closer look at the events of the crime and its aftermath including speaking with the supporters of the West Memphis Three, who have remained outspoken about the innocence of these men.
