We've been following all news about the multiple television projects that Tina Fey has in the works. And one of those projects just got a straight to series order at NBC along with a star for the show.
Ellie Kemper (from NBC's The Office) will star in Fey's new show as a woman who has escaped a doomsday cult and is heading to New York to start her life over. Fey co-wrote the script with her producing partner, Robert Carlock. The two will write, executive produce and run the show. David Miner, Fey's manager, will also executive produce.
Bob Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment Chairman, commented on the pick up.
Tina and Robert, who cemented their partnership on 30 Rock, have created a new signature comedy for us that is audacious, emotional, and clever. While tapping into very relatable themes, there isn't anything like this anywhere else on television. NBC has been their home for many years and we're so happy that they've found another way to push the comedy envelope for us.
The half hour comedy got a 13 episode order and is slated to air in Fall 2014.
