The Sundance competition lineup is out.  Analysis on the gender breakdown to come.

But here's the first thing I saw when I opened the story in the Hollywood Reporter (I seriously think they need a visit from the media gender police- I so would love to be on that task force.

It's like there are no female directors in the lienup.  It matters that women are missing from these headlines.  It matters that they think that Antonio Campos is a filmmaker they decided to highlight over So Yong Kim.  It matters that they picked Kirby Dick to highlight over Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady.

I'm not saying that those guys don't make great films.  I can't wait to see Kirby Dick's film.  What I am asking is why guys automatically get put in the headlines.
