Kathryn Bigelow went on The Colbert Report for one of her most candid interviews yet. She was set to appear on the show weeks ago but admitted she had been "spooked" by the Senate investigation into the Zero Dark Thirty. She also stressed the importance of telling the story honestly and not shying away from depictions that may be hard to watch.

When Colbert asks Bigelow if she'll play it safe for her next film, she responds, "I don't think I'm capable of doing that."

We are so glad you aren't.

She also is on the interviewed for cover story of this week's Time Magazine.

The more I read about Bigelow, the more I admire her. I hate to call her a "female director" but she's only the second female director (the other being Jodie Foster) to be on the cover of TIME.
